Christmas Decor

Paula Rooney & Christmas

Christmas is my favourite time of year for many reasons but mainly because everyone is happy the atmosphere in the shops, market, café and bars is great.  Also its a time to get ready to spend with your family and friends but most of all its for the children.  As I have just had a baby  this year and it's her first Christmas I'm so looking forward to it and all the future Christmas to come!

On a professional side Christmas is about glitter and sparkle, spruces and pines, holly and cones.

I have been a floral designer for 18 years and started doing Christmas décor about 10 years ago, I was first asked to do Christmas décor by the companies that I supplied weekly flowers to.

I then moved on to do some freelance work for a company call the Christmas decorators where we travelled around the country dressing hotels, universities, shops, bars, restaurants and doing Christmas home instalations.

The image below is a great example of some work that I did, we designed the lovely frames around the doors of Claridges with silver sparkle twigs with twinkle lights the effect looked great!

While working for the same company we worked for some amazing clients!

Traditional Red themed Christmas

Traditional Red Themed Christmas

This theme is one of my favourite Christmas themes, I'm just a red girl think it is to do with having a family of red football fans!

There are so many styles you can create from luxury settings with lots of shiny baubles to a tradition New England look.
The below image is great for a family Christmas as there is lots of Christmas novelty's on the tree which looks great.

Gold Christmas Theme

Gold Christmas theme

I have been dressing the gold Christmas collection today in the studio.
I though I would share some of my inspiration for this collection.
When using gold I like to use lots of different texture to create interest within the designs.  The below image uses different shade of gold which works very well!
